About Us

The sound of four hands and two pianos.

A unique piano duo

After two decades of successful joint performing career, Duo PETROF developed their own, unique concept of the piano duo as stage genre. Besides inspiring their exceptional quality and sophisticated style to the classical repertoire, Anatoly Zatin and Vlada Vassilieva, Mexican pianists with Eastern-European roots, create and perform their own arrangements for piano four-hands and two pianos.

As a result of this, they have been distinguished with many awards in the world of classical music, including  two gold medals and the distinction “Best of show” at the 2023 Global Music Awards, three silver medals at the same awards in earlier years, first prize at the international competition for professional piano duos in the United States, a nomination for the 2016 Hollywood Music in Media Awards for their iconic two-piano version of El Jarabe Tapatío, and the title of Contemporary-Classical ensemble of the year by the 2016 Mexican Music Awards in New York City. They have recorded for labels Columna Musica and Azzurra Music / Playaudio. Highlight performances include New York‘s Carnegie Hall and Merkin Hall, the Rudolfinum in Prague, Moscow Conservatory, Shanghai Oriental Art Center, and music festivals in Europe and Asia.
